Archaeological Assessment at the Historical Site of Diour Dbagh (Rabat, Morocco)

Abstract

This article presents the results of an archaeological assessment carried out in the summer of 2021 in preparation for the development of the old tanneries of Ribāṭ al-Fatḥ (Diour Dbagh), which have been abandoned for several decades. Beyond shedding new light on the historical origin of this complex, its material attributes and its spatial organization, this article looks at the whole story of the resilience and mutations of an ancestral site of the leather industry in Rabat.
